Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives hosted a legislative roundtable discussion between co-op CEOs and with Senate President Matt Huffman (R-Lima) who represents the 12th Ohio Senate District, which includes all of Allen, Mercer, Shelby, and Champaign counties, and parts of Auglaize, Darke, and Logan counties. The conversation was held at Midwest Electric and included all co-ops with service territory in President Huffman’s Senate district, including Matt Berry (Midwest Electric), Ron Salyer (Pioneer Electric), Anthony Smith (Union Rural Electric), Ted Holsapple (Darke Rural Electric), and Joe Waltz (Logan County Electric). A fruitful discussion took place surrounding competition, rural broadband, and the importance of the rural voice, among other topics. We look forward to discussing these topics further with President Huffman and thank him for his engagement.
