The 5-Star Co-op Program is an easy way for electric cooperatives to become and stay engaged in the Co-ops Vote campaign. The 2021-2022 5-Star Program cycle has begun and OEC has a lofty, but achievable goal of 100% participation. The program encourages a variety of activities to encourage political participation in co-ops communities, including inviting legislators to visit cooperatives and meet employees.
All Co-ops Vote activities completed in 2021 and 2022 will count toward cooperatives’ 5-Star Status. Remember, the 5-Star programs runs on the election cycle, which is a 2-year cycle. This means if you were a 5-Star Co-op in 2019-2020, you need to apply again). Completed activities are self-reported to NRECA, which will recognize all cooperatives that achieve 5-Star status with a certificate and a window decal for display in their office. Seven months left to achieve 5-Star status!
